Meet Mia
Author, Mindfulness, SEL and Therapeutic Art Facilitator and Certified Grief & Loss Practitioner
I'm Mia Gyesky, born in London, England but have resided in Greenwich, CT for the past 15 years. When my kids were younger, I did spend a brief 5 years in Bend, Oregon raising them on a farm. Here I watched firsthand the benefits of the outdoor world and their connection to it.
I have always been a storyteller writing my own work to combat the feelings around a theme that was either present in my life or the kids. From there my background in performance art, allows me to bring these pieces to life.
Most known for my award-winning solo play, The Things I Wish My Mother Would Have Told Me, it was critically most noted for its therapeutic benefits, landing me with a partnership with FORCE and Motherless Daughters to tour internationally. I then went on to write a piece called, Ojibwe and the Dreamer helping children combat the fear they had in dreaming and partnering with Kids in Crisis, a local non-profit. This play brought 400 children to my backyard to revel in the world of imagination. It was during this play; I realized my love for teaching children the power of connection and healing through art. I then returned to school to get my MA in Mindfulness & Trauma Informed Social Emotional Learning. I love working with littles and their caregivers modeling the beauty of outdoor play, creative arts, somatic awareness and community connection. I sometimes like to think I'm helping children discover a toolbox of skills I wish I had known about earlier in life.

Finding Joy again through an artistic, heartfelt purpose!
Grief & Loss Practice
When I was 11, my mother was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer and although given 18 months to live, she amazingly lived for 10 years. Her diagnosis and the roller coaster of those years and her decline has undoubtedly shaped who I am today. It has become my mission to help children navigate life in all states including grief and fear. In my practice I have created a safe and nurturing space full of creative expression and meaningful rituals to help guide children, teens and families through the tender path of loss, change and emotional overwhelment. These one on one sessions integrate gentle conversation, creative expression, mindfulness and nervous system awareness to help each person feel seen, safe and gently supported at their own pace.
As a classically trained actress and performance artist turned Healing Arts Facilitator, my work has always bridged grief, loss, truth, identity and embodied storytelling. Creating transformative spaces where voice, memory, and presence become catalysts for personal and collective healing and growth is my mission statement.

At Feather & Fern, we nurture emotional connection, creativity, and healing through mindful, nature-inspired experiences for young children and their caregivers. Our programs blend art, music, movement, and storytelling to support early social-emotional growth while gently tending to life’s joys and sorrows — including the tender work of grief.
Rooted in the belief that presence and play are powerful tools for resilience, we offer a space where families can grow together, find calm, and rediscover their innate capacity for connection, healing, and joy.
